Odyssey of the Mind is a national creativity competition for students of all grades. Teams of seven students meet after school starting in the fall to prepare a solution to be presented at the regional competition in March. Each team chooses one long term problem in which to compete, which either focuses on creative performance, engineering, or both. Students also practice quick creative thinking on their feet for the “spontaneous” competition.
Forestville has a long history of success in Odyssey of the Mind going back decades! In 2023-2024, the Forestville OM team won the state competition in their problem and went to the World Finals in Iowa to represent Virginia.
If you are interested in the program, please attend the September 30th Info Session and complete the Interest Form! Odyssey of the Mind is a parent run program, and it requires volunteer coaches, the same as a little league team.
