Open House – August 15

We are looking forward to hosting an open house for all Forestville families on August 15th from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Come by anytime during this window to meet your teacher and drop off school supplies.  Also during Open House, from 10:00 a.m. to noon, the Moo-Thru ice cream truck will be parked in front of the school. Not only can you enjoy a delicious treat, but a portion of the sales will be donated back to our school. It’s the perfect way to spoil your student (and yourself) while supporting Forestville. Be sure to visit the PTA table to learn more about what we do, discover volunteer opportunities, and explore other ways you can contribute to our school’s success. New to Forestville Elementary?  We will also be hosting a new family orientation on August 15th from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. in the cafeteria.

Field Day Success

Thank you to our gym teachers- Mr. Cass-Stevens and Mr. Jimmieson- for organizing a wonderful field day for Forestville. We also want to thank all the parents who took time out of their busy schedules to run a station. It was a beautiful day with lots of fun activities.

Let’s Celebrate Earth Day and Earth Week!

Students and Staff are invited to wear the color matching each day’s theme to show your Earth Week spirit! Next week is Earth Week! While we all work hard to protect our planet each day, Earth Week gives us a chance to learn about new opportunities and make commitments to do even more. Visit FCPS Get2Green for more information. Earth Week Events in Our Community Continue the learning and have fun with our Fairfax County Partners: Fairfax County Park Authority’s Earth Day Festival will be held Saturday, April 20 from 10am-4pm at the Sully Historic Site. The festival will include earth and nature-focused programs, scavenger hunts, and more. The 6th Annual Mount Vernon District Environment Expo: Get Outdoors! Learn and Do! will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Fort Hunt Park, 8999 Fort Hunt Road, Alexandria. The goal of this free, family-friendly event is to educate and inform attendees about the environmental challenges that we face on a daily basis and how we can all act to save our planet.

Teacher Mini-Grants

The PTA recently approved $10,000 in mini-grant funds for teachers to apply to for curriculum enhancements to the school. We look forward to receiving applications and reviewing them at our Executive Board meetings on April 10th and May 6th. The deadline to apply is May 1st.

Wednesday (3/6/2024) – Use your creativity to create a wacky outfit or hair style!  Thursday (3/7/2024) – Wear a shirt from a place that you have visited or want to visit to celebrate reading adventures  Friday (3/8/2024) – Wear your class shirt or Forestville gear to show that we are a team of collaborators
