Thanksgiving Packages for Dranesville Elementary

Each year the Forestville PTA sponsors Thanksgiving Pack for families in need at our sister school, Dranesville Elementary. This will be our 9th year partnering with Dranesville Elementary School in Herndon, who have a significant number of students who receive the “Friday Backpack Program” (food needed at home on weekends).  This year due to greater need than ever we have been asked to provide donations to 140 families. In the past we have provided donations to 92 families due to the generosity of our community. We hope to continue this tradition therefore we ask you to spread the word to your friends, family, co-workers, clubs, etc. in order to meet the need in our community during this holiday season.  Please see the list of items needed to support the families at Dranesville Elementary. Next steps: 1. Sign Up  (please enter your name, email address, and/or group name in the comment box) 2. Purchase items for the donation list. Please place all items together in a bag or box. DROP OFF:  Between 1:00pm – 4:00pm on Sunday, November 19th at Dranesville Elementary School – 1515 Powells Tavern Place Herndon, VA 20170 at the back of the school. Please enter the bus loop from Powells Terrace and drive straight

Boosterthon Results 2023

We are so grateful for our community, which collected $28,000 in donations for shading through the Boosterthon Program. This year was our best year yet for number of registrations (78%), participation (62%) and donations collected ($26K from students and $2K from matching company donations). Forestville students ran 15,225 laps! We really appreciate all the families who came out to the Fun Run and helped with popsicles and cheering the kids on. You can see some pictures below and on our Facebook page.

Thanksgiving Baskets

In the spirit of gratitude, we also launched our Thanksgiving Baskets program this past week. This year, the need for help is much higher than it has ever been before with a request for 140 baskets. We encourage families, Girl and Boy Scout troops, HOAs and sports teams to consider getting together to create a care package for a family at our sister school at Dranesville Elementary and a few families here at Forestville. The PTA will also be putting together 20 packages at our next General Body Meeting on Thursday, November 9th.
